Transferring or Reassigning Generators/Projects

This article will detail how a transfer or reassign of generator/project is completed.

M-RETS requires both parties to confirm the assignment of registration rights. This confirmation must come from users with "manage" authority over the account and its transactions. Both parties must also agree on the effective date of the assignment and, if applicable, the termination date. A signed Schedule A is acceptable for this purpose.

This process provides a clear record of each party’s agreement. It is also helpful for both account holders to give their consent about one month before the desired effective date.

After M-RETS receives written confirmation from authorized representatives of both parties, M-RETS will complete the assignment on the agreed-upon date. We will ask both parties to reconfirm the date to ensure nothing has changed—such as delayed REC uploads or other updates—that could cause issues once the generator is transferred.

The Transferor must confirm the following:

The Organization Name (Receiving Organization)
The Generator Name and M-RETS I.D.
The effective date of the change and the last vintage that should be issued to the Transferor

The Transferee must confirm the following:

The Organization Name (Transferring Organization)
The Generator Name and M-RETS I.D.
The effective date of the change and the first vintage that should be issued to the Transferee.

If needed a newly completed schedule A will need to be submitted if the ownership of the generator is different than the organization accepting the generator transfer.

Please note: When a generator is transferred several fields are cleared from the registration and must be completed by the receiving organization. The below fields must be completed before the generator can be submitted to pending status:
